F-14D TOMCAT 1/62
Scale: 1/62 | Wingspan: 12.5 inches | Length: 12.5 inches
There’s no better word that can aptly define the F-14D Tomcat than what’s already coined to its name—SUPER. The final variant of the Tomcat family, a renowned line of super-sonic, twin-engine, variable-sweep wing fighter aircraft developed by Grumman for the U.S. Navy’s Naval Fighter Experiment program, the F-14D Super Tomcat was definitely the best version. Equipped with all the advanced features available at the time, including modern digital avionics systems with newer radar and a glass cockpit, the impressive Tomcat blew its predecessors off the competition. The first F14d Tomcat, delivered in 1991, was a well-equipped multirole fighter aircraft with an Airborne Self Protection Jammer (ASPJ), SJU-17(V) Naval Aircrew Common Ejection Seats (NACES), Joint Tactical Information Distribution System (JTIDS), and Infrared search and track (IRST). Most memorable is the fact that F-14 Tom Cat family of airplanes started replacing the famous F-4 Phantom II’s in September 1974. After more than four decades of service, the F-14 aircraft finally retired from the USN on September 22, 2006.
