The PT-17 Stearman came as another variant of the recognizable Kaydet series. It was constructed in 1934 and was built by the Stearman Aircraft division of Boeing. The PT17 had quite a remarkable appearance as it had fabric-covered wings that are made of wood. It also had a single-leg landing gear and a welded-steel fuselage. The Kaydets were primarily powered by radial engines until the PT-17 was introduced. The Stearman PT-17 was powered by the 220hp Continental R-670-5 engine. It had a top speed of 124mph and a maximum range of 505 miles. About 3,500 of the total 9,800 Kaydets were PT-17. It entered military service as a trainer plane for the US Army Air Corps together with the PT-13. With decent specs, it isn't a surprise that the aircraft was widely employed worldwide. The Kaydet was employed by the Philippines, Canada, Taiwan, China, Brazil, and even Argentina and Venezuela.
