The development for the Sikorsky S-76C+ began during the mid-70s. The goal of this development was to come up with a medium-built helicopter for corporate transportation. This utility helicopter featured FADEC dual engines and Honeywell EFIS. It also has suppression of noise, dampers for unnecessary vibrations, and a composite rotor. The initial prototype took its first flight in 1977 and was initially named as S-76 Spirit to honor the United States Bicentennial. However, the designation was taken out in 1980. The production for the S-76C+ continued until the year 2005.
