The Hellcat F6F was a carrier-based fighter plane manufactured by Grumman. Introduced in the early 1940s, the Hellcat aircraft was used largely by the United States Navy and United States Marine Corps during World War II. It resembled a lot of WWII planes but had a new design and a more powerful engine. Like many attack aircraft during World War II, the 6F Hellcat was a single-seat war bird armed with Browning machine guns and cannons. Capable of flying at high altitudes during combat, the Hellcat has a service ceiling of 37,300 feet. This aircraft was instrumental in the victory of the United States during the Second World War. After nearly 20 years in service, the iconic Hellcat retired from service in 1960 with the Uruguayan Navy.
