Deployed in the 1950s for the United States Air Force (USAF) service, the B-52G Stratofortress is expected to last until 2040, making it one of the longest-running aircraft in aviation history. The aircraft also engaged in combat operations in Vietnam in the 1960s. In addition to its role in the battlefield, the B-52G won the Boeing Airplane Company the National Aeronautic Associations Collier Trophy in 1955 for being the first long-range heavy bomber.
